Administering your Civil Service pension
Capita Hartshead pays and administers your pension under contract to the Cabinet Office. You should contact Capita Hartshead if you have any queries about your pension (details of how to do this are on the right hand side of this web page).
Annual benefit statements
Capita Hartshead can provide you with an annual statement of the value of your pension. If you left the Civil Service before October 2002 and have not been in touch with Capita Hartshead since they became responsible for paying Civil Service pensions, it would be a good idea to write to them now, quoting your National Insurance number. This will enable them to start sending you your annual statements.
On-line access
You can also view the current value of your pension benefits by registering with the Capita website.
Capita also have a series of Frequently Asked Questions and self help tools on their website
When can I claim my classic, classic plus, premium or nuvos pension?
If you built up two or more years’ worth of pension benefits, we will preserve (hold) them for you unless, at the time of leaving, you had decided to transfer out the benefits.
The earliest you can claim your pension without reduction is at your scheme pension age. (For most classic, classic plus and premium members this is age 60. For nuvos members, it is age 65.) If you are considering taking your pension early, please contact Capita Hartshead. Please note that your pension will be reduced if you take it before pension age.
How do I claim my classic, classic plus, premium or nuvos pension?
To claim your pension, you should write to Capita Hartshead. You must do this three months before you wish to start getting your pension.
Important things to tell Capita
