Changes to the Civil Service Compensation Scheme were announced today by Francis Maude, Minister for the Cabinet Office, in a Statement to the House of Commons.
The Government has announced that it will introduce legislation as soon as possible to bring redundancy payments made to civil servants in line with best practice in the wider public and private sector.
It also hopes to negotiate a permanent and sustainable new scheme which is appropriate to the current economic climate but that also gives wider protection to less well paid civil servants, particularly those earning less than £21,000.
The Statement can be found on the Cabinet Office Website and further Q&As are available on this site.
