Internal auditors provide independent and objective assurance and advisory services within government departments, agencies and NDPBs (non departmental public bodies) across the UK.
They are supported in this work by the Assurance and Financial Reporting Policy Team (AFRP) working in HM Treasury, whose role is to:
- set the standards, policies and good practice guidance
- provide learning and development opportunities
- provide the tools to help the delivery of excellent services.
The Internal Audit Head of Profession is Chris Wobschall who is head of AFRP, HM Treasury.
Who can be an internal auditor?
Internal audit job opportunities frequently arise in many government organisations. Dependent upon the post, you may be able to train from scratch or may need to possess an internal audit or accountancy qualification. Other qualifications can be extremely valuable, as the work is varied, challenging and draws upon a broad range of skills.
