CLG research reports from the New Deal for Communities Evaluation - final reports from the evaluation
The final reports from the Evaluation of the New Deal for Communities Program have been published by CLG. There are 7 volumes, each dealing with a different aspect of this 10-year, holistic regeneration program which has seen the development and implementation of local strategies to address the problems of deprivation in 39 neighbourhoods with an average population of 10,000. Local strategies have benefited from an average of £50m from the New Deal for Communities Program with additional contributions from local partners. A key feature has been the delivery mechanism for the Program: semi-autonomous Partnerships with extensive representation of both local people and local agencies on the board.

An evaluation of calorie information that was introduced on menus in a select number of catering outlets this summer has been carried out by independent research company TNS-BMRB on behalf of the FSA. The work assessed consumers' understanding and use of calorie labelling, and gathered feedback from the restaurants themselves to look at practical issues and costs that were involved in providing the information.
