Dunchester's Millions

A half-day skills' workshop is available to groups of 20 to 30 students.  Dunchester's Millions is a policy game that illustrates many aspects of a career in the Civil Service. Through playing the game participants learn about how  government operates and in particular the role that civil servants play. The game also provides participants with a great opportunity to practise a range of skills including: effectiveness in meetings, persuasion and negotiation, interpersonal sensitivity, analysis, judgement, decision-making and innovation.

Dunchester is a fictitious town that has just received £20 million from the government for regeneration. Participants have to work out how to spend the money, facing a few surprises on the way! A number of participants take the role of civil servants; some play Ministers, MPs and their advisers. Others will represent the sorts of organisations that influence the development of policy in government, particularly pressure groups, local authorities and the private sector.

If you would like to organise this workshop at your university please contact us via email: FastStream@Parity.net.
