The Food Standards Agency (FSA) carries out surveys on the amounts and nutritional values of the food eaten in the UK in order to establish a sound evidence base from which to do its work. The Agency's objective in respect of nutrition is 'improving the health of the UK population through encouraging and facilitating the adoption by the population of a healthy, balanced diet'. One of the four main elements of a strategic framework to achieve this objective is the securing of a sound evidence base for action to promote a healthy diet.
Chief Executive, Oil & Pipelines Agency, MOD Sponsored Public Corporation

The Oil and Pipelines Agency is a public corporation, formed in 1986 by virtue of the Oil and Pipelines Act 1985, which currently operates and maintains the Government Pipeline and Storage System (GPSS) on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.
The GPSS was constructed and operates with the primary function of supplying fuel to military airbases. The GPSS comprises 2,500km of pipelines and 40 storage sites.
The Agency has a remit to manage the GPSS safely, securely, efficiently and cost-effectively to ensure that the GPSS will meet military requirements and, with the irreducible capacity required for military purposes, optimise net income from commercial use: such use must not impinge on the primary purpose of supplying the required fuel for defence purposes and must not require capital investment from public funds. Its commercial users include most of the major players in the UK market. Some 90% of peacetime pipeline throughputs are for commercial shippers and volumes through the GPSS represent some 40% of aviation fuel use in the UK.

The operating budget of the Agency is some £3.1M per year and the revenue that the Agency generates from fee-paying customers of the GPSS exceeds £30M per year.
