Diversity networks
There is a range of networks across the Civil Service, offering help and support to disabled employees and those in minority groups.
The networks provide advice on policy and where to go for more information, and offer individuals a chance to talk to others who face similar situations.
a:gender
a:gender is the support network for anyone who has changed, or is in the process of permanently changing, their perceived gender, or who identifies as intersex. It provides a safe, confidential environment for its members, and works to increase knowledge among others, in order to achieve equality.
Civil Service Disability Network
The Disability Network was set up by people with disabilities, from different departments, and promotes equal opportunities for disabled people in the Civil Service.
Dyslexia Contact Group
This group has been set up to help people with dyslexia, and provide advice to managers and colleagues on how to support those with the condition.
Civil Service Race Equality Network
The Race Equality Network works to ensure people from ethnic minorities are given equal opportunities in the Civil Service.
META - Minority Ethnic Talent Association
META’s purpose is to identify & assist in the development of talent among minority ethnic staff in order to create a more diverse Civil Service.
Rainbow Alliance
This is an informal alliance of the different departmental gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender networks and groups across the Civil Service.
Civil Service Islamic Society
A non-political, voluntary society, representative of mainstream Islamic opinion in central government.
Christians in Government
The network provides information for prayer, as well as ideas and resources for Christian unions.
