About the Civil Service
Corporate Function Board - Terms of reference
CFB has three objectives:
- To provide CSSB with strategic oversight of the professionalisation agenda
- To advise CSSB on the quality and opportunities for development of corporate services across government; and
- To provide mutual support for CFLB members, including sharing knowledge, learning and best practice to improve work of professions across government
Understanding that to do this CFLB needs to:
- Have knowledge, understanding and an appreciation of each others' roles/functions and approaches so that it can identify areas where "shared learning" and "shared working" is valuable e.g:
- GLS: changing approach for recruitment and diversity outreach programme
- Comms: interim staffing service coming soon and investigating a "fast-steam"
- Finance: new network set up with Permanent Secretaries & e-learning for officials
- HR: HR academy and succession planning experience
- IT: CIO Council and IT Academy
- Procurement: establishing a 'club' for procurement professionals across government based around the Government Procurement Service website
- Align and support each others' activates to increase the pace of professionalisation
- Horizon scan so that it identifies and tackles future opportunities and threats
