A properly developed reward strategy provides a financial and non-financial package to encourage existing employees to stay with an organisation, and attract new people to join it.
As different sections of the workforce, and people at different stages of their careers, will be motivated by a different combination of rewards, a well-designed package will be tailored to meet these varying needs.
A practical toolkit (this has since been archived the Cabinet Office) has therefore been designed specifically for use in the public sector, to ensure organisations offer a comprehensive rewards package. It covers:
- methodology
- communication and diagnostic tools
- case studies / good practice (with relevant contacts)
- checklists of issues and guidance (e.g. salary benchmarking, flexible working)
