Analysis of responses
The responses to each question are considered in sequence, starting with question 1.
Q1. Do you agree that the percentage of disabled staff should be calculated as the percentage of those staff who have made a valid response, not as a percentage of all staff, as at present?
| Response | Frequency | Per cent |
|---|---|---|
| Total | 80 | 100.0 |
| Agree | 64 | 80.0 |
| Disagree | 14 | 17.5 |
| No response | 2 | 2.5 |
Table 1 shows that 80.0 per cent of respondents agreed that the percentage of disabled staff should be calculated as the percentage of those staff who have made a valid response, not as a percentage of all staff, as at present. This brings the calculation into line with the way in which the percentage of staff from ethnic minorities is calculated. This could also set a precedent, which would inform decisions on how any future diversity indicators, regarding issues such as age, sexual orientation and religion, could be calculated. Therefore, this change is carried and will be implemented.
Q2. Does your organisation agree with the recommendation that Mandate (Cabinet Office data collection specification) and other aggregated data returns, collected by Cabinet Office, should only collect data on a yes/no basis for disability, i.e. disabled person/non disabled person?
| Response | Frequency | Per cent |
|---|---|---|
| Total | 80 | 100.0 |
| Agree | 70 | 87.5 |
| Disagree | 9 | 11.3 |
| No response | 1 | 1.2 |
Table 2 shows that 87.5 per cent of respondents agreed that Mandate and other aggregated data returns, collected by Cabinet Office, should only collect data on a yes/no basis for disability, i.e. disabled person/non disabled person. Therefore, this change is carried and will be implemented.
